ABOUT US
The Tunisian Glaucoma Society (STG) is a non-profit scientific association. Among its objectives:
Raising awareness among the general population about this serious disease, which causes vision impairment and blindness.
Organizing screening campaigns for glaucomatous neuropathy across Tunisia to educate people about this threat and encourage them to seek medical advice.
- Explaining the different clinical forms of glaucoma:
By age: Congenital glaucoma, Juvenile glaucoma, and Adult glaucoma. - By progression and clinical presentation: Acute (sudden and severe) or chronic (insidious and potentially blinding over time).
- By angle structure: Open-angle glaucoma or Closed-angle glaucoma.
- By origin: Primary glaucoma or Secondary glaucoma.
Presenting various diagnostic methods.
Highlighting current treatment options worldwide:
- Medical treatment
- Physical treatment
- Surgical treatment
Organizing periodic conferences and workshops to enhance postgraduate training and stay updated on the latest global scientific advancements.
Developing strategies to combat glaucoma, with screening campaigns as the cornerstone.
In recent years, media campaigns (TV and radio programs, awareness spots) have been conducted in collaboration with our board members to better communicate information about this poorly understood disease in our country.
This year, we have launched and planned several screening campaigns with the support of our sponsors.
We wish a long life to the STG and hope that our website will serve as an ideal platform for global glaucoma societies.
